Speaking of Photography
November 15, 2017, Atanta Photography Group
Tuesday evening:
Kathryn Kolb leads an eye-and-mind-bending venture into how structure and composition works in photographs or any two dimensional art. She includes how photographs are experienced in ways we are often only semi-consciously aware, and explains the inter-connection between the structure of art and the structure of nature. She also shows how photography can be a uniquely appropriate medium for structure-based images. Kathryn enjoys the point at which "Art, math, and science become one and the same," and draws examples from her own work, regional artists and photographers, and well-known photographers and painters, including Edward Weston, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, and the extraordinary works of photographer Vivian Maier.
